Journal: Module 15

Goals:

  • Re-evaluate my user testing findings and make a list of things I need to change and their importance
  • Discuss possible UI interactions and transitions
  • Complete site documentation for Drupal prototype

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • Need to think about UI interactions
  • More information from user testing, what are my next steps?

Goals for next week:

  • Take a break! Then continue user testing, work out UI interactions, and visual design.

Journal: Module 14

Goals:

  • update mockups & tasks based on user feedback
  • update project plan & timeline
  • perform QA testing on Drupal prototype
  • complete final presentation of project

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • Need to make my navigation bar more simplified, there are lots of unnecessary buttons, should react to the page and/or task at hand by the user
  • Drupal doesn’t work with the Validators and Link Checkers, but found modules to install and accomplish those tasks

Goals for next week:

  • reflect on the semester and make any necessary changes to my mockup, prototype, and tasks after instructor and classmate feedback

Journal: Module 13

Goals:

  • finish user testing & prototype updates
  • figure out how to style Drupal Custom Search module
  • update project timeline
  • complete risk assessment

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • map needs to have more functionality, search results, back/next, user’s location, product locations, and feel more connected to the app overall
  • include Help button to explain industry abbreviations
  • buttons need to be made more obvious and larger

Goals for next week:

  • make changes to online prototypes based on final user feedback
  • re-test new prototype with users to get even more feedback

User Testing: Part 2

I have done some online/remote user testing on both my online prototype and my Drupal functional prototype. The information that I have gathered so far has been that I need to really streamline the navigation, make buttons larger and more clear, and add a lot more functionality to the map.

Next up is in person user testing sessions, I have included the test sheet with questions I want to ask my users before and after the testing session. I am aiming for employees of specialty markets like Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, Lazy Acres, Trader Joe’s, and Gelson’s.

Map Update

Finally got around to updating the store map for my prototype and just in time for user testing. I color coded all of the departments to hopefully make it easier for the user to identify which department they are in.
