Goals:

  • turn in rough of new moodboards, both utility and visual design
  • define and then research the type of company I would like to work for in the future
  • evaluate whether or not my project name needs changing

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • include more of my skills learned and be specific with past accomplishments on my résumé, make the font more standard
  • my education/teaching background is an advantage when focusing on EdTech companies

Goals for next week:

  • re-visit my logo from the beginning, sketch out some new ideas and concepts, and evaluate if it is still the best option for my project
  • re-fine moodboards based on instructor feedback

Journal: Spring Semester Begins

Goals:

  • Re-evaluate the visual design & branding of the Gather App, by creating new Mood Boards
  • Update my personal portfolio & résumé
  • Look at my project timeline, deliverables, and sync up with my various course outlines

Journal: Module 13

Goals:

  • finish user testing & prototype updates
  • figure out how to style Drupal Custom Search module
  • update project timeline
  • complete risk assessment

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • map needs to have more functionality, search results, back/next, user’s location, product locations, and feel more connected to the app overall
  • include Help button to explain industry abbreviations
  • buttons need to be made more obvious and larger

Goals for next week:

  • make changes to online prototypes based on final user feedback
  • re-test new prototype with users to get even more feedback

Journal: Module 12

Goals:

  • begin to conduct user testing
  • finish making functional prototype look like mockups
  • evaluate if I need to use social media in my project

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • need to keep tasks simple for user testing otherwise users will get stuck and I will have to help too much
  • search results in Drupal will not allow me to add an image to the results, need to work around it

  • finish user testing online prototype
  • evaluate user testing feedback and data

Journal: Module 8

Goals:

  • improve my navigation sketches
  • update my information architecture, yet again
  • get my search working in my Drupal prototype
  • create user flow storyboards and wireframes of my project
  • record my project update midterm presentation

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • search and taxonomies in Drupal has been tricky to figure out and I am still learning about how to best use them
  • add functionality to my product pages, including options to find more products from the brand, other sizes, and similar products
  • follow the the midterm presentation guidelines to make sure I include all the necessary parts

Goals for next week:

  • continue to build out my Drupal prototype, adding in more products to search for
  • get feedback about my storyboards and wireframes and see if they need any updates
  • conduct a navigation test of my wireframes

Journal: Module 6

Goals:

  • conduct user testing of my Navigation Prototype
  • refine my information architecture
  • evaluate how jQuery will be used in my project

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • information architecture needs to include more connections, like to the store map
  • need to make my search function “smarter”
  • need to read Information Anxiety 2 by Richard Saul Wurman & check out Mobile Usability by Nielsen & Budiu

  • evaluate user testing results from click test
  • re-work my information architecture
  • test custom search module for Drupal

Journal: Module 5

Goals:

  • finish Drupal navigation prototype and add product page
  • update information architecture
  • mind maps, user flows
  • re-visit competitive analysis
  • fake store name is Natural Market

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • user flows need to be more clear about the main page or search page
  • add another user flow for sharing out product search results
  • research more about how to implement “full text search”

Goals for next week:

  • add new user flow and update others
  • create fake store layout
  • implement any feedback for my information architecture

Journal: Module 4

Goals:

  • complete my content inventory
  • re-work my information architecture
  • get permission to use Whole Foods as an example store
  • begin building a test prototype using Drupal to see if I want to use it as my CMS

Issues covered/Response from advisor:

  • the department doesn’t allow us to use real brands, could be an issue with using Whole Foods, was recommended to use a fictional store based on a Whole Foods market
  • example store needs to have a realistically complicated floor plan
  • learned a lot about Drupal and worked through some issues on installing a sub-theme

Goals for next week:

  • come up with my fake example store and create a mock floor layout
  • continue to build on my Drupal navigation prototype
  • re-visit user personas, scenarios and competitive analysis
